Product Review: Body Shop Chocomania!

Post Numero Uno:

Body Shop Chocomania!

In this range, I have tried the Scrub, the Body Butter and the Body Lotion!

As you may or may not know, I recently moved to New York, from London.
In London- I am Strawberry Body Butter all the way! I think it does wonders, smells gorgeous and leaves my skin feeling beautiful! Whenever there is a Body Shop sale, I am there, armed with at least 12 tubs!

Anyway- Body Shop does exist out here too but at $20 a pop for a tub! I had some reservations! I tried a few other crèmes and lotions, but they just weren't cutting it!
So on that note, I finally bit the bullet and logged onto the Body Shop website, and lo and behold, they were having a sale! :-D
Buy 1 item, get 10% off, buy 2 items, get 20% off.....buy 5 items and get 50% off!!!! Heaven!! I started looking at the website with new eyes!

After placing my 5 tubs of Strawberry Body Butter in my shopping basket, the homepage caught my eye with a new range. Enter “Chocomania”

Now, I am a self confessed Chocoholic. Chocolate I love….to eat. When it comes to fragrances and body products I am more of a sweet and fruity person so.......this is a deviation from normal but hey! It was half price!
Into my basket dropped a chocolate scrub! Exfoliation baby! Then a pump action body lotion for the desk at work. And finally for proper comparison purposes and because I love body butter- in dropped the Chocomania body butter J

Now for the review:

The Scrub
This was the first product I tried. (Normally I go to a store, I pick up the sample, I try before I buy- but oh the joys of internet shopping!)
So on opening, the first job is to smell……mmmmmmmmm
It smelt like chocolate, “not that cheap mass produced sugar filled quick high long low temporarily satisfying leaves you needing more” but a “high grade, high cocoa content blend”. It smelt like a good dark chocolate, more on the bitter, than on the sweet side. I placed the jar under my roommate’s nose and caused instant mouth watering!
The granules were of a sugar consistency, a little went a long way. It did the trick- I felt smoother.
Pros: Smell, Strength, Product
Cons: none
Would I buy it again: YES (but only on sale!!)
The Body Butter
This is the bit I was looking forward too. Again the smell is nice, consistency is thick enough. It dissolves into skin (not as fast as strawberry).
All in all? Great…except for one thing.
It tastes disgusting. I know, I know, I know, it clearly says in the packet- not fit for consumption. But…eeewwwwwww, seriously ewwwwww. What is the point of smelling good enough to eat if you taste disgusting?
If you ever had an issue with nail biting, and tried on those “stop biting your nails polishes”- this is that.
I mean- if you moisturize your hands with the product, and pick up a sandwich- your sandwich will taste like chemical disgustingness. If someone leans in to give you a kiss, while you smell gorgeous, you’ll be leaving their lips with a chemical taste of disgustingness- THIS IS A DEAL BREAKER!!!  For this reason, I shall not be repurchasing.
Pros: Smell, Strength, Moisturizing ability, dissolvability
Cons: Taste
Would I buy it again: NEVER, unless they reformulated it and made it taste like “nothing”- Strawberry body butter does not have a taste, why does this one!

The lotion
Convenient pump bottle, ideal for the desk, dissolves well, smells nice but has the same rancid taste on skin.
Pros: Smell, Strength, Pump Bottle
Cons: Taste
Would I buy it again: NEVER, unless they reformulated it and made it taste like “nothing”- Strawberry body butter doesn’t have a taste, why does this one!

Final Word: I will be sticking to strawberry.

The WHY

Sometimes random things come to mind and I want to talk about them.
Or I try something new and I want to talk about it.
Or I see something and I want to talk about it.
Or I hear something and I want to talk about it.
Or I taste something and I want to talk about it.

That space is here.
